How are our glasses made? (cool & simple version)
At KDEAM, we like to take things seriously... without taking ourselves too seriously. Here's a cool and transparent look at how our glasses are made, step by step.
1. The choice of materials
It all starts with a strategic choice: TR90. This Swiss thermoplastic material is renowned for its strength, shape memory, and exceptional lightness. Unlike the cheap plastics used in many low-end eyewear, TR90 is built to last. It withstands bending, drops, extreme temperatures, and everyday handling. It's this material that allows our frames to combine comfort and strength without compromise.
We also carefully select the metal hinges, tips, and accessories that make up the frame. The goal? To offer consistent quality and avoid unpleasant surprises.
2. Casting the frame
Once the materials have been chosen, we move on to designing the shapes. The TR90 is heated to over 200°C then injected under pressure into high-precision molds developed by our designers. These molds give birth to the structure of the glasses: temples, bridge, frame... Each curve is designed for a modern look, but above all to guarantee comfort and support.
After casting, the frames are naturally cooled before undergoing an initial quality control check. Those that do not meet millimeter-precise tolerances are immediately discarded. Because for us, precision is essential.
3. Adding polarized lenses
Make way for the magic: the lenses. At KDEAM, we use high-quality polarized lenses. They filter reflected light (from water, roads, and snow) and eliminate glare. In addition to providing better visibility, they protect your eyes 100% against UVA and UVB rays thanks to their UV400 coating.
Each lens is adjusted by hand to ensure perfect alignment with the frame. We offer different styles (mirrored, gradient, smoked) depending on the model. And yes, with us, technique meets style!
4. Stylish finishes
This is where everything takes shape. KDEAM logos are added, engraved or printed in high definition, hinges are tested to ensure smooth opening and closing, and each frame is meticulously hand-polished. Nothing is left to chance.
Then comes the time for final assembly: we check the fit of the temples, the correct centering of the lenses, and the symmetry of the frame. Our teams take the time to do it right, because each pair must be impeccable upon delivery.
Fun fact: Some of our frames go through more than 15 quality checks before being approved. Yes, we're a bit of a stickler.
5. Packaging & Shipping
Once the glasses are ready, they are placed in a KDEAM hard case, accompanied by a high-quality microfiber cloth. The entire set is then protected in simple, recyclable, and secure packaging to ensure smooth delivery.
Your order will be shipped from our warehouses within 24 to 48 hours. A tracking email will be sent to you so you can track the arrival of your new favorite pair right to your mailbox.
